Johann Sebastian Bach

The author of more than a thousand works, Johann Sebastian Bach is justly considered the greatest genius having ascended to the very pinnacle of organ music.

During lifetime, Bach was famous as an organist and harpsichordist, his composing talent being perceived by his contemporaries mainly from its practical side, and first of all, in the sphere of ecclesiastical music.

Johann Sebastian Bach is a universal musical genius whose creativeness embraced all musical genres (with the only exclusion of the opera). However, for half a century after his death neither his name nor his music were widely remembered. It took mankind some time to realize the special character of his compositions – not of this world and beyond the historical time – and recognize Bach as a world genius of all times.
